A few weeks back, one of my readers asked me to post sumpin’ by Robin Trower. His wish is my command. I’ll always remember this song. I was at my friend Cliff’s apartment in South St. Louis County. He, our friend Tom, and I had been smoking some weed and we were outside his apartment and he had this blaring on his car’s stereo. It was after dark. I’m surprised no one complained.
Trower is still going strong but his hair is gray and a lot shorter.
This is great, thanks for posting. Went to see him last year at a small concert hall in Greensburg PA, he is just as good as ever. His new albums have the same sound, he’s a very underrated performer. Thanks again for this wonderful clip.
My all-time favorite power-trio. James Dewar’s rich voice meshed perfectly with Trower’s guitar. Folks who wrote Robin Trower off as “just another Hendrix clone” missed out on some great music. If I could shake a string the way he does I could give up my day job.
I thought I was the only person who still listened to Robin Trower. Agreed about James Dewar’s voice. One of the better rock-n-roll singers. Caledonia Dance!
Awesome choice. I saw RT long ago in Denver I think. Master at guitar and I also agree, Dewar’s voice was perfect for the songs.
I always like Day Of The Eagle a lot.
Don’t forget Lady Love with the cow bell!
Always been a fan of Trower and James Dewar’s voice (RIP) was perfection. Put on Bridge of Sighs, kick back and enjoy.
