Saturday night he was at an event called An Evening With Vin Scully at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena California. At one point he was asked about the NFL protests. Here is his reply.
“I have only one personal thought, really. And I am so disappointed. And I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday. And it’s not that I’m some great patriot. I was in the Navy for a year — didn’t go anywhere, didn’t do anything. But I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game.”
I feel the same way. I read somewhere else that someone predicted that the NFL will start contracting and will eventually become a minor sports league. They sure are trying hard to achieve that result. I think it’s funny that Los Angeles, which couldn’t support one NFL team 30 years ago now has two teams. What were the owners of the Rams and Chargers thinking? Mexicans don’t watch football. They watch soccer.
I sincerely hope that now that the NFL has shown that it has contempt for its fans cities will think twice about building lavish sports stadiums for these billionaire owners who hate the taxpayers who finance these stadiums.
Dear St. Louis: If you try to lure an NFL team to St. Louis you are idiots. Screw the NFL. You’re a baseball town and you have the Cardinals. Good riddance to the Rams. You notice that their attendance has been really bad out in LA. Screw Kroenke and the horse he rode in under.
And let’s repeal the NFL antitrust exemption. How would you like them apples owners? And to think you did it to yourselves by virtue signaling to SJWs.
Hey Denny;
Have you seen the pics of the stadiums lately?…man they really screwed the pooch, virtue signalling with the SJW’s whom by the way DON”T buy tickets because it is too violent, and crapping on their blue collar, mostly patriotic base.
The NFL team with a perfect 0-16 season, one playoff win in sixty years, and the only non-expansion franchise to have never been in a Super Bowl, is way ahead of the MLS curve.

I’ll give Dan Gilbert credit- he understands how to make money. With Amazon looking at Detoilet as a potential second headquarters and, Dan being chair of the committee luring them there, dumping his requested soccer team into Ford Field, while making the 15 acres where the boondoggle jail sits a viable option for attracting Amazon, is brilliant.
Martha Ford, linked arm in arm with kneegro Lions and her son Lisping Prince William Clay II, are just lucky enough to be on for the ride.
Why would Amazon want to put its second headquarters in Detoilet? That’s as funny as putting it in Newark. Atlanta is a great choice but will lose out because it doesn’t have enough mass transit.
Why Detoilet? Oh, say, something like, President Trump wanting expedited completion of the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Then there’s Port of Halifax, which is two days closer to Europe, one day closer to Southeast Asia than any other North American East Coast port. Also, there’s Port of Montreal. Both ports are able to make shipments by trucks and rail via the Canadian Pacific Railway Tunnel in Detoilet. And, for that matter, both Detoilet Metropolitan Airport and, Willow Run Airport are within a half hour away.
International trade.
Why would Bezos choose landlocked and traffic gridlocked Atlanta?
Airport. Busiest in the world. Savannah second busiest port on the east coast with rail and trucking to Atlanta. Closer to Atlanta than Halifax is to Detoilet. That’s why Amazon already has a huge distribution center here. But shipping is irrelevant. The only thing important for transportation is the airport. Atlanta defeats Detoilet hands down. This is a headquarters with high tech jobs it isn’t a warehouse. Georgia Tech as a feeder for the jobs. Weather. Seriously, how many techies do you think would want to move to Mogadishu on the Lake? Income taxes. But you are correct about traffic. The only plus is that all of the sites suggested are right next to MARTA with a direct path to the airport. Over the years many Fortune 500 companies have relocated to Atlanta. How many have moved to Detoilet? Also, Atlanta is gentrifying with millenials moving back into town. Africans are worried that whites are gonna take over the city. If it came to deciding between Detoilet and Atlanta, Atlanta would win. No contest.
My guess is that Dallas will win. It’s in Texas with no income tax. Nice weather. It has a good airport with DFW. It has transit. It already has a large tech base. Texas is one of the most business friendly states in the country.
Quick question for you both…what are wages like in ATL vs. Detroit? I am from the Central Valley of California and we have a couple of the large Amazon distribution centers out here on the Westside. The cost for the workers is going up due to influx of Bay Area workers and wages. Could lower personnel costs have something to do with it? Just a questions…I am by no means an Econ major. 🙂
These are tech jobs. This is a second headquarters, not a warehouse. As such, the wages will be rather high. What Amazon is looking for is a high tech base which Atlanta has with a feeder like Georgia Tech. Atlanta also has the infrastructure with lots of fiber already laid. But as I told AD, it will prolly be in Texas which is one of the most business friendly states in the country and also has a good airport and a high tech infrastructure.
Texas is business friendly. That is correct. Never made claim against that.
Matter of fact, the fag side of Texas: http://rightmi.com/maybe-michigans-business-leaders-are-just-stupid/
Individually friendly tax-wise… Texas ranks right up there with Georgia. Michigan? Will fuck you on transportation insurance. It’s about level.
Bottom line: techie shitstains will work wherever they are able to get a job. Climate means nothing. H1-B’s and other visas have made that a reality. Everyone knows this.
It’s wide open.
Three cities that will not get Amazon’s second headquarters: Detoilet, Newark, and St. Louis. “Hey, I hear you got a job with Amazon. When are you moving to Seattle?” “I’m not. I’m moving to Newark,” BWAHAHAHAHA! “Hey I hear you got a job with Amazon. When are you moving to Seattle?” “I’m not. I’m moving to Detoilet.” BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! “Hey I hear you got a job with Amazon. When are you moving to Seattle?” “I’m not. I’m moving to St. Louis.” BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
There are too many jobs for H1-B’s. These jobs will be filled with millennials. They don’t want to live in crime infested cities. Bezos wants a place with a good airport. That leaves Detoilet and St. Louis out. A strong tech base. That leaves Detoilet and Newark out. A place with a good university system for tech innovation and a hiring pipeline. If Denver is in the mix the choices will be down to Denver and Dallas and possibly Atlanta because of the airport and Georgia Tech. Sorry. Detoilet doesn’t have a chance.
BTW, I was a “techie shitstain” and there is no way I would have moved to Detoilet or Newark for a job. High taxes and high cost of housing. I could have taken a promotion with IBM to Poughkeepsie New York. I would have gotten a 10% raise (like I did when I took a promotion to Atlanta) but because of New York taxes I would have taken a cut in pay. Maybe H1-B’s will take a job anywhere but most of these jobs will be for millennials.
Vinny has always been a class act. And with whom did he throw out a first pitch at the World Series? Fernando Valenzuela, the inspiration for “Fernandomania” who just this last year announced his pride in becomin’ a US citizen. How many of the SJWs have “proudly” gone to some other country and been naturalized? Shit, they may talk bad about America, but they sure ain’t floatin’ leaky boats or doin’ anything else to go to someplace they think might be better than here. I hope that the NFL realizes that when you’ve lost Vin Scully, you’ve lost America.
Ron in Ohio Sez:
A big YUP! to both Vin & Den.
1. The proposed GOP tax plan is supposed to hit all major sports franchises and won’t let these jerks build billion $ stadiums using tax free municipals…leaving the taxpayer to foot the bill. It’s none too soon I would say.
2. Chicago has bid on Amazon and really does have the built-in infrastructure to support the supposed 50,000 or jobs it would bring. They won’t get it, however, due to the fact that IL state Speaker of the House (for the last 34 continuous years) plus a mayor and a few aldermen will extort too much money and Amazon will see right through it.
Yep, dead center correct there. The Democrats will do their level best to try to extort money from Amazon. No way will they put up with it. Chicago is out. Illinois is heading down the toilet anyways, thanks to the entrenched Democratic machine that is running the state into the ground.
Screw ‘Em!
As a lifelong SF Giants fan, I can say, without a doubt, that Vin Scully is a national treasure, and one of the most articulate and thoughtful men I have ever heard on television or radio. I just wish I could boycott along with him, but I haven’t watched the NFL in years. I suppose you can’t stop doing something you’re not doing…
