Bummer

Didja see the championship game last night? I didn’t watch the whole thing because it was past my bedtime and I knew Georgia would lose. We in Atlanta are cursed, and yes, I consider UGA to be an Atlanta team. This game was just like the Falcons in the Super Bowl last year. In the first half they were the better team but the evil genius Saban put his own freshman quarterback in and the momentum shifted. Saban is now 12-0 against his former assistants.

It was a hell of a season for the Dawgs and they made the right choice by firing Richt and bringing in Kirby Smart. He got the Dawgs to the championship game his second year. Richt was Richt at Miami. His team was doing well and then folded down the stretch by losing its last three games. Richt was a good coach at Georgia but he couldn’t win the big games. I expect the same thing to happen at Miami. Smart won two big games his second year: the SEC Championship and the Rose Bowl. Two out of three ain’t bad.

Smart is a good recruiter and hopefully he can stockpile talent like Saban has at Alabama. I would have liked to have seen the players who stuck around for their senior year rather than opting for the NFL, notably Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, to have won a championship but it wasn’t to be. Alabama has the talent and has the coach.

  1. Didn’t really watch it. Could care less who won. Here is KC the whining is still going on. I laughed my butt off when they lost. Every year the fans are told that the Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl. Big hype. Every year they lose the opening game if they get to the playoffs. The fans around here seem to forget that the real season starts on January 1st. Regular games are worthless. The real teams then show up to play. The Chiefs were probably no more than a 500 team this year, they are not a championship team. There’s a difference. I will say that I did not grow up in KC. Actually grew up in STL area not far from you Grouchy. I like hockey.

    • I’ve driven through KC twice after a KC playoff loss and listened to local sports radio. Rather amusing. Two years ago it was how Andy Reid din’t know how to manage the clock. Duh! This year the NFL is dead to me. Didn’t watch the Falcons beat the Rams. Didn’t even knew they won until I saw it in the paper the next day. If they make the Super Bowl I will not watch.

  2. I was cheering for the Tide. Have good friends who are alum. But when dickhead Bo Scarborough ‘allegedly’ said F Trump, I was done watching.
My WI Badgers did well in the Cotton Bowl.
Still haven’t watched the Packers since they took a knee.

  3. Watched the whole game, I can see a re-match next year for the SEC championship. A lot of whining on both sides about officials but that is typical. Of course the libs were going nuts about Trump, the National Anthem and the fact he left before half time.
