What’s even better is Trump has a higher approval rating that Obungler did at this time in his presidency and he had the Fake News Media cheerleading him on. Remember, he was “sort of a god”. I’m not sure if he can divert funds to/from the defence budget but …
1) He’s the commander in chief of the armed forces.
2) The Corps of Engineers are sitting around with nothing to do and all that heavy construction plant that they own is rusting away through lack of use.
3) He could order the Corps of Engineers to undergo an extended field exercise to, oh, I dunno … build a ditch 40 foot deep and stack the soil on the US side of the ditch and build a wall on top of the mound of soil. It would improve their field fortification skills no end after all that practice.
4) Declare that points 2 and 3 are “in the interests of national defence”.
The Romans did a similar construction project across northern England and they had a lot less men and no heavy excavation plant to do the job. And they had to quarry the materials to do it themselves as they did it.
Let’s get some value out of the Corps of Engineers for the tax dollars spent on them, eh? >};o)
