He just signed an executive order saying only electric cars will be sold in Mexifornia after 2035. Too bad I won’t be alive to see all of those electric low riders the Mexicans will be driving. Let’s see, a state that doesn’t have enough power to keep the lights on is gonna somehow have enough power to charge a bunch of electric cars. This is not just stupid but major league stupid.

Third world, here we come. As a non-native but 40 year resident of CA, this may be the last straw. Doubt I’ll have the physical or mental acuity to need a new car in 15 years but to pretend there aren’t environmental issues related to the rare earth mining needed to construct an adequate number of batteries, battery disposal, or generating sufficient power verges on insanity.

To be technically fair, I suppose electric cars would end up charging overnight when electric demand is low, so this works well with power sources that don’t depend on sunlight. However, some note that the burden on the planet for electric cars is far higher than regular cars because of the resources that go into making them. And we’ll need nuclear power if we want carbon-free energy, but the state is shutting down its nukes. I’m all for “green”, but it’s got to be done by engineers and accountants, not moron politicians. And this stupid China virus has given lunatics like Newsom a taste of dictatorial powers, and he’s never going to give them up because everything’s an “emergency”. Constitution, what Constitution? We’re hosed.
