Saw a headline last week that it was a “communications breakdown” that has caused problems with vaccinations for the Kung Flu. I immediately thought of Led Zeppelin. Since I’ve used Communications Breakdown recently, I have decided to use the first track off their first album. I had this album on 8-track and I’ve got it on CD.

  1. Wow! That brings back some memories. I was 15 yo when that album came out and working as a pump jockey making $1.10/hour, so it took a bit of time to come up with the cash to buy it after making my save up to buy a car bank deposit. The first time that I heard “Communication Breakdown” there was no way that I wasn’t going to get it. While researching the history of the band a few years back I learned that Page originally wanted Terry Reid to be the lead singer. He turned Page down because he already had contractual obligations and suggested Robert Plant and rock history was made. After hearing Reid I can imagine him as the front man for Led Zeppelin. Would they still have made it as huge as they did? We’ll never know………

    • Communications Breakdown was the very first Led Zep song I ever heard. Heard it on the juke box in the mess hall at Treasure Island in October of 1969 when I we getting separated from active duty. I had to go over to the juke box to see who this band was. Wow!

  2. My favorite is “Whole Lotta Love” from Led Zeppelin II. With headphones, it sounded like the guitar started in one ear and went over the top of my head to the other ear.

  3. Love that album and the song Whole Lotta Love . I have the CD now. I once had the vinyl, in fact had 5 or 6 of their vinyl albums. Still love listening to them to this day. I may in the future try to get the CD’s of their BBC recording sessions.

  4. I was a freshman in high school when I bought my first true rock album, Led Zeppelin II. I bought it from a friend for $4, still have it in pristine shape, this was 1976. I’ve scratched my head for the last 44 yrs asking “what kind of person would sell this record?”. Zeppelin never goes out of style.

  5. A few years ago I bought a Sony digital turntable for $130, which included Sound Forge audio software. I convert LP’s to mp3 files, but it also burns CD’s. I had to research carefully because some turntables would place the mp3 file in Apple Music, or the cloud. The Sony turntable and software places the mp3 file directly on my laptop. I refuse to buy something that I don’t get in my hot little hand.
